Net profit of banks falls 0.48% to PLN 10.32 bln – NBP

The net profit in the banking sector in the period January-August 2016 stood at PLN 10.32 bIllini, which represents a y/y fall of 0.48 percent, the National Bank of Poland reported.

According to calculations by PAP, in August alone, the net profit of the sector rose by 7.8 percent to PLN 1.06 bbillion. Income from interest during the eight-month period stood at PLN 25 billion, a y/y increase of 8.62 percent. Write-downs in the period January-August totalled PLN 4.61 bln, which was 2.5 percent higher than a year before.
